State and Federal Lobbying
The Suffolk Group's lobbying team of experienced professionals provides comprehensive government relations services to companies and trade associations at the federal, state and local levels of government. The members of The Suffolk Group understand the often complex legislative process and have an unparalleled knowledge of the issues and credibility with government officials — both of which are essential to achieving a successful lobbying campaign.
We recognize that every client, whether a Fortune 500 corporation or an industry trade association, has specific needs and therefore requires a unique public affairs campaign. At the outset, we assess each client's government relations needs in light of the current political climate in order to formulate a customized lobbying strategy. This strategy may include one or more of the following services:
- Drafting Legislation – Whether filing new legislation or amending pending bills, we provide our clients with comprehensive legislative drafting services.
- Bill Tracking – We review pending legislation to identify bills of interest to the client and prepare a computerized bill tracking system.
- Preparation of Testimony and Advocacy Materials – In order to effectively educate legislators and key decision makers, Suffolk Group members prepare well-crafted campaign communications, including position papers summarizing the client's position as well as any testimony to be presented before legislative bodies.
- Strategic Advocacy – Utilizing our experience, relationships, and knowledge of the issues, the government relations team directly lobbies members of the legislature, the executive office and regulators to advocate on behalf of our clients' positions.
- Legislative Research and Analysis – We research and analyze legislation in the context of existing laws and regulations in order to identify issues which have the potential to impact our clients.
- Grass Roots – Working hand-in-hand with our clients, we mobilize informed, local constituents and members of organizations to lobby legislators through letter writing campaigns, phone banks, and legislative "Days on the Hill".
- Legislative/Regulatory Forecasting – We carefully monitor the legislative and executive branches of government for trends that are likely to result in legislative activity, allowing our clients to be well-prepared when developing long-term strategies.
